Grandmaster G Is Listening for What Sierra Leone Has Next

Grand Master G is an artist, but he also spends a lot of time listening to other people's music.

Through 1nspired3y, his curation platform, he has built a space around discovering and putting attention on Sierra Leonean artists. The work currently includes his Spotify playlist, alongside other forms of curation.

Not every artist he features is someone he knows.

“Some of these artists I know personally, some of them I don't,” he says. For him, the music still has to stand on its own. “If the music is doing well, the numbers are sufficient. Yes, I add them to the playlist.”

That has brought different corners of Sierra Leone's music scene into the same space, from more familiar names to artists still building an audience. One example is Sierra Leone 2026: Freetown's Finest, a project centred on the country's current musical landscape.

The focus is Sierra Leonean, but the curation isn't strictly contained there. International collaborations and artists living outside the country can also make their way into the mix.

Grand Master G approaches his own music with a similar openness. His work moves between Afrobeats, rap and R&B, rather than settling into one sound.

His latest release, “Sunday 2 Sunday” featuring Vizir Jozi, was released on February 15, 2026.
